Fresh Snow

Those first steps on fresh snow are wonderful for me.  As a runner, nothing is worse than rain.  It just soaks through everything and, unless it is over 80 degrees, you tend to freeze almost instantly.  Snow, however – just fresh snow – not the blackened and hardened old snow – fresh snow is light and there is a slight crunch when you run on it, giving you traction.  As long as you are properly layered and have your extremities heated by hats and gloves, you are fine.  It is usually quieter with fewer cars, so less to worry about.   So don’t hop on the treadmill every time – get out there and have some fun in the snow.  So you don’t run too fast – big deal – you will enjoy it more and remember it for a longer time.   Happy and safe running…..SNOW 2015
